Moon Venus Conjunction 2nd January 2017

The crescent Moon showing earthshine and in close conjunction with the planet Venus

I noticed this beautiful conjunction and managed to obtain a short video clip using my Canon compact camera. I converted my video to a still image using Registax and a number of freeware specialist software programs.

I thought it was interesting to note that although both the Moon and Venus were in line of sight close proximity (in conjunction), they are illuminated by the Sun from opposing sides thus proving that they are in reality very far apart.
