Selene in the Afternoon

The Moon in our Winter Garden
A garden in winter held in fierce frost focus
Snowdrop barren, bloom less and without crocus
Clasped bronze cold between moon and sun
Life paused, hibernating and long ago begun
Awaiting spring, summer, swifts and longer days

Annual resurrection in sunshine’s warmer rays
