Twenty Four Days of Christmas (13)

Christmas/Sweetmeat/mince-pie

Many people believe that the best mince-pies ever were made by their mother. This belief is both erroneous and one of the many reasons why marital relationships come under great stress during the Christmas Holiday Season.

In fact the best mince pies ever, were baked by a certain Mrs. Chambers, in the year AD1968, in Maidstone, in the County of Kent, in the United Kingdom.

The pies in question were made with ‘rough puff’ pastry using traditional suet based mincemeat laced with a little French Brandy. They were made and eaten on the same Christmas morning.
