England Expects in the Golden Age of Bullshit

'England Expects' - Oil on board - anon

“Vice Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson leads an imaginary British fishing fleet and defeats make-believe ‘European Invasion’.  England expects each and every man; woman and child, however vulnerable, to ‘suck it up’ so that multimillionaires may continue to pay no tax on ‘offshore accounts’.  Rule Brittania - they certainly do!”

Cosmic Tree of Birds

Cosmic Tree of Birds

A tree of mute birds and cosmic signs
Knotted string and love that binds
Fused glass and twisted cable
Sits upon our dining table

Constructed with love and skill
Planetary disc, beak and bill
Bathed in low angled winter sunlight
Rainbow colours transparent and bright

Stars and Planets outside by night
Garden birds foraging in full daylight
Whirl around in the sky outdoors
The other side of our patio doors

Refugees

'Refugees' - sculpture and photo-mash - sculpture made from recycled materials by Alice and Pixie Boon -2018

Why are our brains so large and our hearts so small?

If you look throughout time at every nation
You conclude that ‘politics’ is a form of predation.

Feet of Klee

'Feet of Klee' - photo-mash - George Roberts 2019

“When looking at any significant work of art remember, that a more significant one probably has had to be sacrificed”. – Paul Klee

"So its probably what he would have wanted" - George Roberts

Paul Klee
Paul Klee took a dot for a walk and discovered a line in its wake
His line then took a hike and made a drawing for heaven’s sake
Colour and he, he discovered to be, all one combined, forever and the same
As drawing and artist participants in a multi-dimensional ‘symbolic’ game
The world around him vanished as graphic fruits fell from his fecund tree
The innocent child of Modernism mispronounced to rhyme Paul Klee

“Beauty is as relative as light and dark. Thus, there exists no beautiful woman, none at all, because you are never certain that a still far more beautiful woman will not appear and completely shame the supposed beauty of the first” – Paul Klee

“Nice little painter but not ‘good’ with the ladies” -  Lily Stumpf

Swedish Fish Balls

"IKEA Kitchen shaken but guaranteed to withstand a sustained attack from a giant Carp" -  moronic Cyprinidae installation by George Roberts - January 2019
"It might be hard to believe now, but there used to be a time when anglers didn’t bother with kitchens or kitchenettes. In fact, even a sink would have been a laughable proposition! Instead, anglers would rough it in the open air all year round, no matter the conditions, with only a microwave and a waterproof jacket to their name. Luckily for us, times have moved on somewhat. Now the angler who roughs it all night is the exception, rather than the rule, and the rest of us can enjoy the relative comfort and luxury that a fitted kitchen, and sleeping bag can provide.  There are plenty of kitchens to choose from online, ensuring you can always get the perfect kitchen for your carp fishing needs".

Grabelli on the Wall

Miss Gina Grabelli - Oil on Board - Kate Foster. Exhibited at The Mall Galleries - 2004 Exhibition Royal Society of Portrait Painters
Lovely Christmas gift from Alice and Andy. Unable to find out more about the artist Kate Foster. The painting was purchased in Reading - one possible and current candidate found on line has links with the RWA Bristol Art Gallery and Reading University. A more romantic and unlikely candidate for the artist is the model in Richard Carline's painting 'Kate'. Unfortunately her birth in 1904 would have made that particular Katherine Foster 100 years old at the time the exhibition was held at the Mall Galleries. Whichever Kate captured Miss Grabelli she did a brilliant painterly job and the painting looks a treat upon a wall in our bedroom.
